Chief Creative Officer and Partner, Michael Mason has been named a 2021 Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Optimization by HSMAI, the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI).

Mason, a 25-year communication and marketing veteran, started his career at BBDO New York and has worked for FJCN Advertising Agency, Franklin Covey, and spent five (5) years at eBay before joining Ideas Collide as a Partner in 2010. At Ideas Collide, he oversees the agency’s design, video, copy, and development teams and leads its Travel & Hospitality practice. In this role, he has been responsible for dozens of award-winning campaigns, including over 100 collective Adrian awards, including four (4) Platinum Awards, and three (3) e-commerce Marketer of the Year recognitions from HSMAI.

“Mike pushes our agency to do work that makes a difference for our clients, their stakeholders, and the community at large. This award is a testament to that and a fitting celebration of his contributions of bridging marketing with effective storytelling in a way that connects us all,” said Matthew Clyde, President of Ideas Collide and himself a ‘Top 25 Mind’ awardee in 2012.

What goes into naming the top-of-the-top
The 20th annual list recognizes the “best of the best” in the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries. A panel of senior industry executives judge nominees based on recent work and their exhibited creativity, innovation, and impact in overcoming challenges and driving gains.

According to Robert A. Gilbert, President, and CEO of HSMAI, “The ‘Top 25’ always celebrates the sales, marketing, and revenue optimization leaders and innovators in our industry. Throughout the pandemic, these extraordinary professionals have risen to each challenge and met unprecedented circumstances with creativity, strength, and ingenuity. These innovators and top performers will be a guiding light that will accelerate the industry’s recovery.”

In 2021, Mason was the lead creative on the “See You Soon” campaign and “The Caring Business” campaigns. Both campaigns helped support recovery for hospitality during the pandemic and spotlight the caring spirit, compassion, and high ideals of service of the Best Western brand through the stories of courage, generosity, resilience, and caring displayed by its member hotels.

At this year’s HSMAI Adrian Awards ceremony held in South Florida on March 30, Ideas Collide was awarded a total of eight awards in the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum categories. The Adrian Awards spotlight excellence in hospitality advertising, digital marketing, and public relations.
