I wanted to send a big thanks to whoever created this holiday (we know it was you, Hallmark). Finally, a holiday that allows everyone to have a sense of humor (businesses and humans alike) and for advertisers to find a way to connect with their customers on a very human level—through humor.
Over the last few weeks we’ve had the opportunity to work on some April Fool’s related projects for our clients and it has been an enlightening experience to walk outside the lines of the traditional communication style. For businesses, where a humorous style of communication isn’t really a natural fit, this gives them a great excuse to break out of the mold and give their customers a pleasant surprise. And because it is April Fool’s even somewhat lame attempts at humor get an easier smile and a wink. And thankfully, that last part applies for humans too (you know who you are, office pranksters).
